Press Release

The XJet Carmel 1400M AM system will enable YBI to offer both metal and ceramic solutions to customers in aerospace and defense, medical, electronics and other advanced industries

The partnership between XJet and YBI increases access to advanced additive manufacturing technologies for North American customers

Humtown Products, a YBI partner and America Makes member, will host and operate the advanced metal AM system

Rehovot, Israel – July 14, 2025

XJet announces today that Youngstown Business Incubator (YBI) has acquired a Carmel 1400M Metal additive manufacturing (AM) solution to enhance its comprehensive production capabilities. The system will be housed at Humtown Products, a key YBI partner and America Makes member, creating a powerful collaboration that strengthens the region’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

Based in Youngstown, Ohio, YBI has established itself as a prominent AM hub empowering local innovators and businesses with access to cutting-edge additive manufacturing technologies. This latest acquisition builds on the proven success of the XJet Carmel 1400C ceramic system installed in 2018, strategically expanding YBI’s metal production capabilities to serve high-precision industries including aerospace and defense, medical devices, and electronics across North America.

Crucially for these industries where quality and precision are essential, XJet’s NanoParticle Jetting™ technology provides a unique solution for producing high performance parts at an industrial scale with exceptional detail resolution, complex internal geometries, and superior surface finish—eliminating the extensive post-processing typically required by conventional AM technologies. The precision manufacturing capability, combined with scalable production for medium to large jobs, positions XJet’s technology as the ideal complement to YBI’s existing metal production portfolio.

The expanded collaboration establishes not only a formal strategic partnership between YBI and XJet focused on facilitating technology adoption, but also a three-way collaboration with Humtown Products, offering a comprehensive manufacturing ecosystem across North America. As members of America Makes, YBI will continue its role as a regional technology facilitator while Humtown Products brings operational expertise and manufacturing infrastructure to support customers requiring specialized production solutions. This partnership positions the Youngstown region as a growing hub for precision additive manufacturing.

Speaking about the extended partnership, Guy Zimmerman, CEO of XJet, says, “This expanded collaboration with YBI validates the exceptional value our AM technology delivers and reflects strong market confidence in our North American growth potential. With YBI’s market leadership and expertise in application support, we have the perfect partner to join us as we expand in the North American market.”

Barb Ewing, CEO of YBI, emphasized the partnership’s strategic significance: “After seeing the value and impact of XJet’s ceramic AM system, we’re excited to add the metal solution to our offering. Thanks to its immensely valuable properties, metal only grows in popularity as a production material and is becoming increasingly important for many of our clients. XJet’s unmatched quality and resolution will enable us to deliver superior manufacturing services,” Ewing adds, “This deepening partnership will allow us to serve more industries with greater production capabilities.”

Mark Lamoncha, President and CEO of Humtown Products, highlighted the strategic value of the collaboration: “We’re excited to play a part in the commercialization of one of the world’s premier nano-metal 3D printers. This is a new direction for Humtown, and a great opportunity for us to expand our relationships with our existing customer base and the Youngstown additive manufacturing community.”

John Wilczynski, Executive Director of America Makes, commented: “YBI’s acquisition of the XJet metal printer marks another key ‘win’ for the Youngstown Innovation Hub for Aerospace and Defense. This cutting-edge technology significantly enhances the capabilities of the region and will further strengthen Youngstown’s presence in the aerospace and defense sectors.”
